British Animation Veteran Roger Mainwood Passes Away!
Director and proponent of hand drawn animation Roger Mainwood passed away yesterday. He is best known for working on a segment of HeavyMetal and his first TV directing job on The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends and Stressed Eric. His life-long friendship with Raymond Briggs had him creating The Snowman, When the Wind Blows, and Ethel and Ernest from Briggs work. For last years release of Ethel and Ernest under his direction, a 110-strong team produced 12 drawings per second of screen time and around 65,000 animation drawings for the entire picture. The film also featured a new song written and performed by Paul McCartney, In the Blink of an Eye, as well as another number Walking in the Park with Eloise written by McCartney's father, Jim, in the 1920s.

AHOF's Travelling Exhibition Journey Into IMAGIMATION Closes at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center!
AHOF's Journey Into IMAGIMATION: Over A Hundred Years Of Animation History concluded its extremely successful run at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center in Pueblo, Colorado. The museums CEO, Jim Richerson, declared that it was the most successful summer exhibit they had ever had with attendance up over previous years. cIt was heartwarming to see multigenerational families enjoying and spending meaningful time together as they toured the exhibit!" AHOF's cornerstone exhibit, which contains 144 works and artifacts from the AHOF Archives, was not only visited by local guests, but by guests from all around the world.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences Honors Four New York Animation Veterans!
Independent Filmmakers Signe Baumane, Emily Hubley, Candy Kugel, and Debra Solomon will be highlighted and honored at the Monthly Academy at Metrograph. It will be an evening of short films and a panel discussion featuring their creators. The Metrograph is in its second year of hosting monthly special events organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Animation Writer and Director John D. Schnepp Passes Away!
Writer and Director John Schnepp died July 19 from a blood clot as the result of a stroke. He was the creative force behind Adult Swim series Metalocalypse about the fictional Death Metal Band Dethklok. He started out his career as a voice actor and animation director on Space Ghost: Coast to Coast.

AHOF's Journey Into IMAGIMATION opens at the Sangre de Christo Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado!
We are proud to announce the latest open of AHOF's travelling exhibit Journey Into IMAGIMATION: 100 Years of Animation Art From Around The World exhibit will officially open at the Sangre de Christo Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado with the animation themed gala kickoff event Animating The Night! It will run from June 1, 2018 to September 23, 2018. More information on the exhibit can be found by visiting the AHOF Calendar. We would like to thank the Sangre de Christo Arts Center for allowing AHOF's first world class travelling exhibit to be displayed at another one of the United States distinguished venues and also for creating and hosting their gala kickoff event Animating The Night.

The Animation Hall of Fame proud to announce this year's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Oscar winners for Best Animated Film and Best Animated Short Film. The winner for Best Animated Film was awarded to Coco, which was directed by Lee Unkrich and produced by Darla K. Anderson. The winner for Best Animated Short Film was awarded to Dear Basketball, which was directed by Glenn Keane and written by Kobe Bryant.
